TORONTO (March 4, 2011) – Shawn Ryan, whose prospecting success has caused a claim staking gold rush in Yukon and whose discoveries could be the origin of the gold found in the Klondike at the end of the 19th century, will be presented with one of the top awards at the upcoming convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC). The event opens on Sunday, March 6 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and goes until Wednesday, March 9.

TORONTO (March 4, 2011) – One of the three rescue capsules built to rescue 33 Chilean miners trapped underground last year will be on public display at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s International Convention, Trade Show and Investors Exchange, to be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (south building) from Sunday, March 6 to Wednesday, March 9.

SANTIAGO, Chile – A Chilean congressional commission on Wednesday found two mine owners responsible for the accident that trapped 33 men a half-mile underground for 69 days last year.

Only 27 of Antofagasta’s 400 mines are authorized

On Monday an accident in the Palo Blanco copper mine in Chile’s Antofagasta region killed one man and left two injured. The worker who died was identified as 19-year-old Jordan Araya (ST, March 1).
